In both “The Death of Pretty” and “What Is a Dadbod?” the
articles go over how men and women are viewed and how these views have changed
over time. In “The Death of Pretty” I do agree somewhat on how women and girls
would rather be looked at as “hot” over pretty because when you’re “hot” you
gain a lot more attention from guys rather than if you were just “pretty.” At
the end of the day though, being labeled as “hot” is just going to give you
attention from guys, not love. After all is said and done a guy is going to
want to take home a “pretty girl” who is innocent and pure. Talking about girls
in this sort of manner can seem kind of demeaning and sexist, but as girls we
also do the same thing. Especially when it comes to the “dadbod” phase we’re
in. Girls, at least in my opinion, used to want a fit and muscular guy who looks
like he goes to the gym 5 times a day. Now it seems like we’ve given up these expectations
a bit and have settled for the ever so famous dadbod. I personally don’t agree
with the whole movement, but to each their own.
