I disagree with both articles in my honest opinion. In the
first article the author talks about how “pretty” is dying. It talks about how
women are being viewed and value. The author says that pretty means a balance
of innocence and beauty. Archbold, the author of The Death of Pretty, says that women value being hot more than
being pretty in today’s world, and that society wants them to be viewed as hot
not pretty. I disagree completely because as a 19 years old college student I
see how much guys around my age and even older value the innocence in a girl.
How much they spend time on a girl with innocence and beauty more than a girl
who is hot. I was also taught that innocence and beauty is the most valuable
thing in a woman. So I disagree because Pretty is not dead it’s still valued
maybe even more today than before because it is so rare. Also in the second
article it talks about how women likes the dad bod. I disagree because I think
the dad bod is disgusting… Why would I want someone with a beer belly? If a
woman has to take care of herself and keep her ideal body, then why shouldn’t a
man do the same? It should be both ways.
I agree with the whole dadbod situation. I would much rather have a fit guy over someone who looks like they have a 40-year-old body with a beer belly. It’s obviously personal preference but I definitely don’t see the fad in having a less than average looking body. I agree with the Death of Pretty part too because I would much rather be viewed as pretty and innocent and someone that a guy wants to take home to their parents over being “hot” and getting just attention but no respect from guys.
